FVPS Newsletter Term 1 Week 5
Free internet for families

From the Relieving Principal

Dear Parents/ Carers,
Welcome back to 2025. It has been a fantastic start to the school year and all students have returned engaged and ready to commit to their learning. It has been great to reconnect with so many families and look forward to continuing to do so throughout the year.
SchoolZine
Newsletters will be published twice a term- in Week 5 and 10. We have switched to School Zine this year and hope to make this a user-friendly document to engage our community with the latest and upcoming news. A wonderful feature of School Zine is that the information can be translated in various languages.
2025 Staffing
I would like to communicate that there will be no changes to our current class structure. Students are settled into their 2025 classes and teachers have established productive routines to support student learning

School Gates:
Please remember that school gates do not open until 8.30am in the morning and close again at 9.15am. They then open of an afternoon at 2.45pm. These gate times are to ensure the safety of all students and need to be in place to work with the supervision structure of the school. Please do not drop off or leave students unattended at school before 8.30am in the morning as there is no supervision in place.
School Uniform:
In 2025, we are reinforcing and encouraging school uniform. The uniform shop is open daily if you need to purchase items for your child. Student should not be wearing black shorts or coloured leggings. As stated in the DoE Uniforms at School procedures’ the wearing of school uniforms by students helps build a sense of connection with their community’. If you require support in organising a school uniform, please come and speak to the front office.
Swimming Carnival :
Thank you to Mr Kinniburgh, Mrs Jajo and Mr Misitano for organising a wonderful swimming carnival. It was a gorgeous sunny day, and all students enjoyed their rotation activities and races. We congratulate all the students that will compete at Zone next week on Tuesday 4 March 2025.

Important dates:
We are nearly halfway through Term 1 and lots of exciting events to come:

Welcome back to another exciting school year at Fairvale Public School. Although it seems long gone, I hope you all had a wonderful break, filled with relaxation and memorable experiences.
We are thrilled to welcome both returning and new families to our Fairvale family. Our school vision statement captures perfectly what we’re all about:
Fairvale Public School is a positive, respectful and innovative multicultural learning community, fostering engaged learners who feel a sense of belonging. With students at the centre and a focus on the school's FAIR Core Capabilities, our students are encouraged to strive for excellence through a structured, explicit and sequential curriculum. Staff are passionate, focused on making a difference every day by setting high expectations and collaborating with all stakeholders to enhance learning and achievement. Our school, with family and community partnerships, is dedicated to achieving ongoing academic success, health and wellbeing for all students, as we transform lives through learning.
Communication is key to a successful school year, so I encourage you to stay connected. The best way to do this is by connecting to School Bytes, Seesaw and following our school’s Facebook page.
As we begin this new school year, I want to take a moment to emphasise the vital role that regular attendance plays in your child's education and overall development. Please read about our attendance initiative for this year below.
This year, I’ll be accumulating some frequent flyer points as I “Book an Adventure” and travel around to each classroom, specialist role and visit non-teaching staff too. It will definitely be one of the most exciting parts of my week!
We look forward to working in partnership with you to make 2025 a positive and successful year.
Finally, I’ll be placing a “Where in the World” riddle in each edition of the newsletter this year. I encourage you to sit with your child, view the newsletter together and try and solve the riddle. Just come up to me in the playground and be the first person to give me the correct answer to win a prize!
Wishing you all a fantastic start to the year!
Mrs Fedele

Over the first few weeks I have visited our amazing office and SASS staff, our OOSH program,
1Venice Canals and 5 Himalayas.
In 5 Himalayas, students were engaged in a Maths lesson. They did a warmup to revise place value before getting into addition and subtraction using bridging.
In 1V, we spoke about why it’s important to come to school every day! They then wrote a recount about their first day of school!

AFL Auskick program
Our scheduled AFL Auskick program for this term has been moved back two weeks and will now begin on Wednesday, March 6. Funding has been received from the local AFL club to provide a discount for this program and will now only cost families $20 per student for the 4 week program. Students will also receive a GWS Giants AFL Auskick Pack.
Families who have paid the full cost already, will have $30 refunded by AFL Auskick.
The program will take place at school from 3:15pm.
There will be a Fairvale PS teacher in attendance, however the program will be run by trained AFL Development Officers. There is a QR code on the attached pamphlet, which will need to be scanned on your phone to register.
Any questions can be directed to Brooke (details on pamphlet) or to Mr Kinniburgh.
