FVPS Newsletter Term 2 Week 5
From the Relieving Principal

Welcome to Term 2 Week 5!
It has been an exciting start to the Term 2 and look forward to sharing with you all the wonderful things taking place.
Term 2 Weeks 1-5:
- School attendance: We have started out the school term strong, with most grades meeting or exceeding our 90% attendance rate. As we begin to enter colder months, please ensure that students have school jumpers and school pants ( for boys)/ stockings (for girls). Our ‘Little Kids, Big Changes’ team have been working hard behind the scenes and will begin selling washed second-hand items of school uniform. They will be set up in the morning in Fair Square or the Big Cola. All money raised will contribute to their next school project!
- Choir school collaboration: Our school choir proudly represented Fairvale Public School at the Fairvale High School (FVHS) multicultural celebration assembly. All students were warmly welcomed by teachers and fellow students. Thank you to Mrs. Olivera and Mrs. Pereira for dedicating their lunch times to ensure that students were prepared and rehearsed for the event. The FVHS band will join us for our Multicultural Day celebration on Monday, June 16, 2025 (Week 8). We welcome all families to come to our school and celebrate!

- Season 1 PSSA: Congratulations to our netball, soccer, and touch football teams on a great season! This week, we will begin trials for Season 2. A reminder that students who successfully gain a position on a PSSA team are required to sign a code of conduct with their parents. While we support excitement and passion for the game, students must ensure that they conduct themselves with high levels of respect and follow the instructions of coaches and referees.
- Peer Support: This program will begin this Friday. It provides an opportunity for our Year 6 students to mentor and support peers from other grades in lessons focused on our FAIR core capabilities. They have completed training sessions to prepare for and enhance their leadership skills. We look forward to seeing them lead these discussions and activities- supported by staff.
Reminders:
- School arrival and dismal: Staff supervision starts at 8:30 AM; students should not arrive before this time. At 3 PM, K-2 parents must collect their children from classrooms. Older siblings can pick up younger ones if pre-arranged. Please inform the classroom teacher or front office if someone else will collect your K-2 child for a one-time pickup.
- Play equipment from home: We are working on getting more equipment onto the school playground during break times. As a result, students will only be permitted to bring handballs to school. There are plenty of soccer balls, basketballs, and netballs available for students to use.
- Semester 1 School Reports: All student reports will be published via School Bytes. No printed reports will be sent home, so please ensure that you are connected as soon as possible.
- Parent-Teacher Interviews: These will take place early in Term 3. This will give families the opportunity to review student reports over the holidays and then meet with teachers to set learning goals for Semester 2.
- End of year assembly: In 2025, we will have one final end-of-year presentation day to celebrate sporting achievements and all stage academic accomplishments. This event will be held at the end of Term 4.
Exciting News!
- Vacation Care During July School Holidays: We are pleased to announce that our current OOSH services will be open during the July school holidays to provide vacation care. More information will be sent shortly via School Bytes.

I look forward to connecting with you all at our upcoming events.
Ms Maturana (Relieving Principal).

Book an Adventure

As part of my Book an Adventure visits, we start each lesson looking at how often students have attended school so far. We collaboratively create an anchor chat as to why it’s important to come to school every day!
I was super impressed with my visit to 3 Hadrian’s Wall. Students began by reciting a chant to help them remember the structure of informative texts. It’s still stuck in my head! They then had to practise drawing and writing their plan. Students finished the lesson by revising learning about Antarctica, particularly icebergs. I got to see detailed and labelled drawings of icebergs. Fabulous learning, 3H!
It was a pleasure visiting 2 Colosseum. I walked in and students were finishing their learning on number patterns. They were drawing number lines and showing that patterns repeat over and over by adding the same number. Students then broke into two groups to work on spelling. Keep up the awesome work, 2C!
I was blown away visiting our RFF programs including Music, Library and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). In the music room, students were learning about the five elements of dance: body, action, space, time and energy. We all then practised the Nutbush! Lots of fun in the music room!
Mrs Bawa was getting everyone ready for National Simultaneous Story Time by having students research facts about cats! Did you know cats cannot drink milk? Students also posted a book review on Seesaw!
During my visit to the ICT room, 2/3B were doing various things. Year 2 were completing a typing club challenge and Year 3 students were completing the NSW Public School Survey.
Keep up the fabulous work everyone!
Mrs Fedele
