    From the Relieving Principal

    Dear Parent/ carers and students,

As we approach the end of this term, I want to take a moment to reflect on the hard work, growth and progress each student has made in Term 1. Whether in the classroom, on the sports field or in extra-curricular activities, I have witnessed so many of our students rise to challenges and push themselves to excel. I want to extend my deepest gratitude to our dedicated teachers and non-teaching staff for their unwavering commitment in ensuring students are taught in high expectation classrooms and given a multitude of opportunities.

    Term 1 NEWS:

    • Term 1 Class Visits- this term, I visited and taught each class for an hour. Lessons ranged from reading groups, writing, history, creative arts, maths and personal development lessons. I have enjoyed the opportunity to connect with students in their new classroom, learn names, see friendships blossom and understand classroom routines and expectations. I endeavour to repeat this process in Term 3 to see how students have continued to grow!
    • Approaching Our School procedures- recently I sent via School Bytes information on how parents/carers or members of the school community can approach the school to raise any concerns. I encourage you to read this information to ensure that we continue to maintain a safe and harmonious school environment.
FVPS Approaching our school - guide

    • Farewell Mr Serkan- It is with great sadness that I share that Mr Serkan will be leaving Fairvale PS at the end of the term. Mr Serkan is a hardworking, calm and a creative General Assistants (GA). We wish him all the best on this new chapter. In Term 2, the school will begin the recruitment process for a new GA.

Students have been getting creative in designing their hats in class. On Thursday, students are encouraged to wear the colour orange or traditional cultural outfits to school.

Fairvale PS will host a commemoration assembly on 1 May 2025 (Term 2 Week 1, 2-3pm) to acknowledge the sacrifice past and current service men and women have made to our country.

    Dear Fairvale Families,
It’s hard to believe we are already nearing the end of Term 1! Our students have settled into their routines, and it has been wonderful seeing their enthusiasm in the classrooms and on the playground.
A big thank you to our dedicated teachers and support staff for creating engaging and supportive learning environments. Check out some learning that has been happening in ’Book an Adventure’. We appreciate the ongoing support from our families—your involvement makes a huge difference in your child’s learning journey.
Looking ahead, we have some exciting events coming up! These include:

    Mrs Fedele

    Attendance Matters

So far we have 302 students who are on track to achieve this term's prize! Keep it up!

    Book an Adventure

As part of my Book an Adventure visits, we start each lesson looking at how often students have attended school so far. We collaboratively create an anchor chat as to why it’s important to come to school every day!

I was super impressed with my visit to 6 Loch Ness. The students wrote their own maths problem using the area model as a strategy. They then participated in a Maths warm up, revising their knowledge on place value. Well done Mr Ly and 6L!

It was a pleasure visiting 2 Nijo Castle. Miss Nak was revising the /ai/ and /ay/ sounds with students so they could complete spelling activities independently. Did you know you find the digraph /ai/ is in the middle of words (eg. faint) while we find the digraph /ay/ at the end of words (eg. play).

I was blown away in Mrs Tsioras’s Stage 2 English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) group. Students practiced blending, segmenting and reading words the fast way. They were revising different sounds they have learnt by playing a fabulous game of fishing bingo!

In Ms Kopec’s EAL/D group, students were revising sounds and practising their reading skills. Students had to orally put known words into sentences. They ended the session by building words using sound boxes and magnetic letters.

Mrs Pereira was working busily in 1V. They played a fun game of Duck, Duck, Goose then wrote the beginning of a procedure about how to play. Students used a scaffold to support their writing, but a lot of students could already tell us what they could write. Keep up the wonderful work, 1V!

During my visit to Miss Michael's EAL/D group, students revised the purposes of writing. The focus was on planning their very own narrative. Before starting they sang a little chant to help them remember all the parts and elements within this text. I was so proud of everyone being able to talk about their ideas before writing.

Keep up the fabulous work everyone!

    Mrs Fedele

    Anti-Racism Contact Officers (ARCO's)

Our school is committed to a positive and harmonious learning environment, where we strive to respect the cultural linguistic and religious backgrounds of our Fairvale community.

The Department of Education has an Anti-Racism policy which aims to eliminate racism and supports Anti-racism education to ensure all guidelines are met. As a school, we do the very best we can to ensure culturally inclusive, cohesive, safe and engaging learning experiences for all our students.

If at any time you find that you have a concern about racism in our school, you are encouraged to talk with a member of staff so that your concern can be resolved. Our school has trained Anti-Racism Contact Officers (ARCO’s) who are happy to assist in any issues or matters relating to racism.

Please contact Mrs Tudman or Mrs Pereira.
